ARE WE THERE YET: VIHORLAT MOUNTAIN

Are we there yet? The Vihorlat Mountains are really faraway place and one of the smallest protected area in Slovakia with about five thousand kind of animal living there.

And with 240-year-old beech trees.

Listed in UNESCO World Natural Heritage since 2007.

An extinct stratovolcano, Vihorlat with its seep slopes looking similar to well-known Japanese Fuji volcano, the highest volcano and the highest mountain in Japan.

How to get there?

- by car using D1/R1 highways to Zvolen, then E58 route to Košice, then E71 route to Michalovce and Morské Oko, approximately two 6 hours’ drive from Bratislava
